- Biodiversity is fundamental to human well-being, a healthy planet, and economic prosperity. It provides essential services and support for all systems of life on Earth.
- Global change, including unsustainable land and sea use, overexploitation of resources, climate change, pollution, and invasive species are causing unprecedented biodiversity loss and environmental degradation.
- Current educational programmes often do not prioritize the biodiversity crisis compared to other political and societal issues. This programme aims to place biodiversity and ecosystem services at the forefront of academic and professional training.
- There is a critical need for professionals who possess integrative and interdisciplinary competences to effectively address global environmental issues.
