Frequently Asked Questions
Application Timeline
-
When does the deadline to apply close?
The application platform will remain open until January 5th. No new applications will be accepted beyond this date.
Application Process
-
I have questions on the application process, I used the contact form for delivering my questions but did not receive a reply yet. What should I do?
We have received your question regarding the application process. Please note that this is now the second edition of GLOBE, and once again we are experiencing a much higher number of applications and queries than expected. Our team is currently focused on processing the large volume of application data, which means that replies to individual questions submitted through the contact form may take some time.
We kindly ask for your patience, as we are unable to respond to every single query individually. Instead, we are addressing the most frequent questions collectively through our FAQs webpage. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you carefully read the FAQs, as well as the Apply section of the GLOBE website, where you will find all the relevant information — including, most likely, the answer to your question.
Eligibility Criteria
-
I am in the last year of my bachelor’s degree and will complete it by the summer of 2026, before the master starts. Can I still apply?
For this edition of the master’s program, the requirement is to have a completed bachelor’s degree at the time of application. You are more than welcomed to apply for the following edition of GLOBE.
-
I’m not sure if my bachelor’s degree is a good fit for the GLOBE master’s programme.
Fit to the program is an important selection criterion. As a reference, degrees in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, and similar fields —with coursework in biology, ecology, or environmental-related topics— would provide the closest fit. Note that there are other selection criteria (listed in the Apply section of this webpage).
Language Requirements
-
I studied my bachelor’s degree in English. Do I need to present a valid English certificate?
Yes, unless you are a national of — or have completed your BSc studies at a university located in — a majority English-speaking country (as defined by UKVI), you are required to provide an official English language proficiency certificate.
-
I have a B2 (or higher) English certificate, but it is not of any of the types suggested in the GLOBE webpage. Is this certificate still valid?
As a rule, applicants are required to provide a minimum B2 English certificate from the types explicitly listed in the Apply section of the GLOBE webpage before the application deadline. Only those certificates are officially recognized as valid proof of English proficiency for admission.
If you do not provide one of the listed certificates, we cannot guarantee that your application will be considered complete or eligible. Therefore, we strongly advise you to obtain and submit one of the accepted certificates within the application period to ensure that you meet this admission requirement properly.
Required Documents
-
What is the Postgraduate Eligibility Certificate?
This is a document issued by your university stating that your bachelor’s degree allows you to enroll in master-level courses. It needs to be completed and signed by a competent representative (e.g., registrar’s office). A template is available on the application platform. This is a required document if your degree was not obtained within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
-
Do I need to submit a Postgraduate Eligibility Certificate if I already have a master’s degree?
If you have completed a master’s degree (MSc), you can upload the legalized certificate for that degree instead of the Postgraduate Eligibility Certificate. However, you still need to upload, as separate documents, your bachelor’s degree certificate and the transcript of records for your bachelor’s degree.
-
What is the Declaration of Veracity?
The Declaration of Veracity is a document stating that all the information and documents you provided are true. It needs to be signed by the applicant. You can find a template for this document in the application platform.
-
Who can write my reference letters?
Reference letters should be written by individuals who are familiar with your academic or professional background. Ideally, they should be professors, academic advisors, or employers who can speak about your skills, achievements, and suitability for the master’s program. Make sure your referees can provide specific examples of your qualifications and strengths. Ask your referees to provide contact details.
Scholarships
-
How do I apply for the scholarship?
In the application platform, there is a checkbox to indicate that you want to apply for the scholarship. Make sure that this checkbox is clicked while you are registering your application.
-
I’m from a country where part of the master’s program takes place. Can I apply for the scholarship?
Yes, candidates of all nationalities are eligible to apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarships. If awarded, the scholarship covers the entire duration of the academic program, regardless of the student’s country of origin or the program location.
