Frequently Asked Questions
Application Timeline
-
When does the deadline to apply close?
The application platform will remain open until January 24th. No new applications will be accepted beyond this date.
Application Process
-
I have uploaded all my documents but I’m not sure I have submitted my application. Is there anything else I need to do?
Once you upload all your documents, your application is considered submitted. There is no «Submit» button. This means you can modify your documents until the application deadline. After the deadline, we will review your documents and inform you if any corrections are needed.
-
I have questions on the application process, I used the contact form for delivering my questions but did not receive a reply yet. What should I do?
This is the first edition of GLOBE and we are getting a massively higher number of applications and queries than we expected. We are simply overwhelmed just to process application data. We also try to answer the queries posted at the contact form and we do so by order of posting. But we beg for your patience with this, as we are unable to process all queries posted. We are answering the most frequent questions collectively in this FAQs webpage. Thus, we advise to read this FAQs thoroughly, and the Apply section of the GLOBE webpage, because all relevant information is in here, including, most likely, the answer to your question.
Eligibility Criteria
-
I am in the last year of my bachelor’s degree and will complete it by the summer of 2025, before the master starts. Can I still apply?
For this edition of the master’s program, the requirement is to have a completed bachelor’s degree at the time of application. You are more than welcomed to apply for the following edition of GLOBE.
-
I’m not sure if my bachelor’s degree is a good fit for the GLOBE master’s programme.
Fit to the program is an important selection criterion. As a reference, degrees in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, and similar fields —with coursework in biology, ecology, or environmental-related topics— would provide the closest fit. Note that there are other selection criteria (listed in the Apply section of this webpage).
Language Requirements
-
I studied my bachelor’s degree in English. Do I need to present a valid English certificate?
You need to submit a document from your university confirming that the language of instruction was English, if that was the language of instruction during your bachelor’s degree. If that is the case, you don’t need an English level certificate.
-
I have a B2 (or higher) English certificate, but it is not of any of the types suggested in the GLOBE webpage. Is this certificate still valid?
As a rule, try to get a (minimum) B2 certificate of the types listed in the Apply section of the GLOBE webpage before the deadline for application. That will ensure that you comply with that admission requisite properly. If you don’t manage to get one before that deadline, upload any other certificate you may have. However, we cannot guarantee that the selection committee will take it as valid proof of English level.
Required Documents
-
What is the Postgraduate Eligibility Certificate?
This is a document issued by your university stating that your bachelor’s degree allows you to enroll in master-level courses. It needs to be completed and signed by a competent representative (e.g., registrar’s office). A template is available on the application platform. This is a required document if your degree was not obtained within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
-
Do I need to submit a Postgraduate Eligibility Certificate if I already have a master’s degree?
If you have completed a master’s degree (MSc), you can upload the legalized certificate for that degree instead of the Postgraduate Eligibility Certificate. However, you still need to upload, as separate documents, your bachelor’s degree certificate and the transcript of records for your bachelor’s degree.
-
What is the Declaration of Veracity?
The Declaration of Veracity is a document stating that all the information and documents you provided are true. It needs to be signed by the applicant. You can find a template for this document in the application platform.
-
Who can write my reference letters?
Reference letters should be written by individuals who are familiar with your academic or professional background. Ideally, they should be professors, academic advisors, or employers who can speak about your skills, achievements, and suitability for the master’s program. Make sure your referees can provide specific examples of your qualifications and strengths. Ask your referees to provide contact details.
Scholarships
-
How do I apply for the scholarship?
In the application platform, there is a checkbox to indicate that you want to apply for the scholarship. Make sure that this checkbox is clicked while you are registering your application.
-
I’m from a country where part of the master’s program takes place. Can I apply for the scholarship?
Yes, candidates of all nationalities are eligible to apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarships. If awarded, the scholarship covers the entire duration of the academic program, regardless of the student’s country of origin or the program location.
